Emma’s Bed

Ryan suggested I paint the girls beds a dark color.  I am wishing I had painted them white.  I told Ryan I was going to repaint and he wouldn’t let me.  I hope they look fantastic in the room, then I wont feel so bad about painting them dark.

I got Emma’s down to her room and realized these beds are wider than a twin, I don’t know if old beds were wider or what?  But the box springs just fell through.

I had Ryan weld some plates in between the rails to hold the bed up.

That should do the trick, I hope!

I don’t want to haul it all the way downstairs and then back up again one more time!

It’s a good thing Ryan likes to weld, and work hard, even for my crazy wild ideas!  Emma’s bed should be done.  This was the easy bed, Ashley’s is going to take some real creativity to get in working order!  YIKES!

The Girls Beds

So I finally got started on the girls room.  We sort of have wrapped up the basement re-model and the tools kept moving from place to place until I got tire of them and hauled them out to the shed.  I don’t think we will have much more progress down there until next winter.  BUT I am so happy with all that we got done.  It is a fun space to be in!

So, back to the girls rooms.  I have been loving the iron beds that are so popular right now.  They had them on Downton Abbey in the servants rooms.  I of course could find some fantastic ones online for $1,000 a piece, but I think Ryan would have cried if I spent that much on twin beds.

So I have been searching craigslist and finally came across an old rusty antique iron bed.  I drove to get it immediately.  I asked her if she had more, and she had these two that I bought instead!

They don’t match each other but I think the girls are happy with that, and I was happy just to find something and at a craigslist price! I am excited to paint them up and get them in their room. It is coming together nicely!

Little Red Chair

I bought this chair a year ago in Spokane for $3.  Feb 2011 00061

I don't think I had a plan in mind for it, I guess that is why it has sat out in the shed for a year!  Well I was finally inspired by one of Jenna’s purchases at Ikea this past week:jens red chair

(I don't think this is the exact chair she bought, but it is still cute like hers)

When the girls had Presidents day off we went to work.  Ashley and I put three coats of red on this cute little chair and it goes so nicely in her room!

I'm glad it finally has a home!

A Little Girls Book Shelf

I picked up this little shelf at my favorite little thrift store. I primed it and painted it with my gallon of oops paint. It turned out perfect for Claire's new room. I don't have to have a traditional book shelf to take up room, this little one can hang on the wall and hold all the books she needs! I hung it low for her to be able to reach, she loves it!

Farmhouse Twin Sized Bed

I finished the big girl bed! I am not sure we, {she} is ready for it, but I am ready to be done with the crib so we will see how tonight goes! Hopefully she wont fall out of it, this bed is TALL, she looks like the princess and the pea up on it! She is excited and so am I. {The crib is going to stay up for a couple of days just to make sure though!} Thanks again to Knock Off Wood for great plans and fun building!

Tea Party Table

My shed is looking like one of the latest episodes of "Hoarders" SO I told myself, (before my husband had to tell me) that I could not do any thrifting until some of these projects got finished. So today, despite the terrible un-cooperating weather I have been outside working. I got Claire's little tea party table finished. It is just darling! Here is a before:
AND after:
Gotta ♥ those little pudgy pink fingers!
I have started using primer on all of my spraying projects, it is the BEST, YOU MUST PRIME before you paint, it turns our tons better!
I distressed it very little, I had a hard time distressing all of that hard work, It took lots of thin layers of paint to look nice and smooth and no drips. I can see lots of Dora puzzles being put together here in the future! Now to find the right chairs.....

Door Headboards

We have been busy with the girls rooms this week. What a fun Spring Break for two little girls right??? They didn't think so much! I have been wanting to do a door headboard in my room and had the door already painted black it just never felt right for our room though. SO a year later I am putting them up in the girls rooms. I painted Ashley's Shallow Sea Ultra Behr:

Sisters, do you recognize her chandelier??? It came all the way from Seattle in my suitcase!!

Emma's paint is called Shamrock, also by Behr.

Don't you love the two door knobs! They are so shabby!
I just bought those sample paints because I didn't think I would need a whole gallon of Shamrock green! It was just the right amount I got two coats on each of them. I am excited for the end results of their rooms! I am doing something cool on the focal wall behind the headboard too, I have one more thing to finish and then I will post it too! So fun! The girls do LOVE how they turned out, they are happy!

CLAIRE

I made Claire's name in the warm summer months, but I still love them and wanted to post about them. I just got the letters from a craft store and spray painted them white. I stapled ribbon on the back and hung them from nails. I think they would hang cute from knob too, I haven't found a good inexpensive supplier for knobs yet. I have a small collection of old door knobs but I am using them on another project.

Emma's corner

Emma wonders why her room isn't "fancy" like Ashley's, Emma likes fairies especially tinker bell, SO we call her room the Tinker Bell room, We added a couple of butterflies to her corner $3 on the clearance isle at walmart and the cute purse lamp from the thrift store 3 dollars also. I have plans to paint her night stand top with chalkboard paint, her room is no where complete either. Lets just hope my/her tastes don't change by the time we get it finished! I told her that her room isnt "fancy" like Ashleys because she doesnt keep it clean, do you think it will work? Not a chance!

Ashleys Room

I am trying to create a shabby chic room for Ash, it is always a work in progress, she really wants a canopy, some day we will build her one, until then this will work as her canopy.I have seen cute frames like this all over blog land, I cant say how much I LOVE my cricut to cut out the vinyl! The frame was 50 cents and gold.
